My name is Rita Pichlhöfer. I have studied and conducted mediations in the United States of America since the year 2016 and am a certified mediator under Austrian law since 2023.
Although there are lots of mediators in Austria there are not many that offer mediations in the English language. Therefore I would like to offer my support for the english-speaking community in Austria.
Mediation is a process in which a neutral person, the mediator, helps all parties in conflict to resolve their conflicts. Mediators have no power to impose a decision or settlement, and have no stake or interest in the outcome.
I will help you transform skepticism and conflict into mutual understanding, creative solutions, and trusting relationships.
Conflict is often viewed as something negative, but conflict also offers opportunities for growth and understanding. As mediator it is my greatest honour to be able to create a safe space for every party to express their needs and hurts and hopefully, eventually show people that they have the choice of their future in their own hands. To show people that they do not need somebody to tell them what their solution to their problem is.
As mediator I am not involved in the conflict, I am guiding the conversation and in a sense act as translator for the parties.
“Understanding conflict is basic to its resolution. If we seek to end a conflict, we must start by understanding its nature. What makes a successful peacemaker or conflict resolver is not a set of processes, methodologies, or tactics; it is a way of thinking, a set of values, an array of analytical and interpersonal skills, and a clear focus.”
